Some may say that tech gadget lovers are impossible to shop for because they are known to have the latest and greatest products that have ever existed. It may be true in some cases but I strongly feel that no matter their interests, there is ALWAYS something out there for them to peak their interest. Hardcore gamers have strong opinions towards headsets and ear buds. Most Apple MacBook users are always looking for handy or innovative new accessories to step up their laptop game. If you have a techie in your life that you’re looking to impress or win over, then check out the 6 best gift ideas that I’ve gathered below.
If the Wi-Fi signal is weaker than it needs to be in certain parts of your home or apartment, then adding a Wi-Fi extender to your current network could help boost signals and improve the ability to stream your favorite videos and shows. Setup is fairly straightforward and you get the added benefit of 2 bands – 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz – so your devices can have the option of connecting to either band. I’ve got a few of these units throughout my house and it has helped me eliminate the dead zones.
If your techie is an avid photographer but doesn’t want the hassle of carrying a DSLR camera with them to take awesome photos, then this kit might be a good option. You get 3 separate lens (Wide Angle, Fish Eye and Macro) that easily attach to any smartphone, tablet or even laptop with the provided clip. Once you have the desired lens clipped onto the phone, you’re ready to start taking your enhanced photos that you can easily share on social media and with your friends. I was so surprised by the quality that most of my friends couldn’t tell that I took those photos with my smartphone and not an expensive DSLR camera.
3. Blue Light Blocking Glasses
With so much time being spent in front of screens including TV, smartphones, laptops and tablets, it’s important to protect the health of your eyes from fatigue and potential damage. This is where blue light blocking glasses can be a helpful addition for techies and gamers that spend a lot of time in front of screens. I’ve found that by wearing these specialty glasses, one can also minimize eye strain and headaches, which is a plus and a must have. I’ve picked up a few pairs of these glasses as gifts for friends and relatives and it was great to receive delightful feedback on how well these were working for them. I wear regular prescription glasses and I’ve managed to find blue light blocking clip on version that’s been a great find for me! Happy to see there are several options here!
If you have a techie that is a hardcore Apple products fan, then I would consider looking into a wireless charging station for them. This particular unit is unique because it supports charging for multiple products at once including an iPhone, iWatch, AirPods and the Pencil. There aren’t a lot of products on the market these days that can charge 4 separate products at the same time, which is why I think this would be a great option for those with more than 2 Apple devices. As a plus, you can also utilize this charging station with specific Qi wireless charging capability Samsung devices as well.
5. Portable Charger Power Bank
If your techie is a fanatic of having no less than 95% charge left on their devices, then the perfect gift would be a portable charger power bank. The particular one that I have found to be quite useful and handy is one of the highest capacity ones currently in the market. It has a whopping 30,000 mAh battery capacity which means that it’s a beast of a power bank that can charge multiple devices including smartphones and tablets concurrently. The huge battery capacity gives you plenty of opportunities to charge before needing to juice up the power bank. It comes with an LED display to show how much charge is left and with the type-c connection port, you can quickly recharge the power bank for the next round of charging!
Lastly, I’m sure your techie is big on home automation and getting them a pair (or 4-pack) of Wi-Fi smart plugs would help them add a touch of automation to their lives. Some may say Wi-Fi smart plugs are purely for the lazy who don’t want to turn lights on and off using the wall switch, but I beg to differ. These plugs give you a ton of flexibility to set schedules and timers to completely automate this process in your home or apartment. And yes, you can play a cruel trick on family members by using the handy app to toggle the plugs on and off from anywhere – even while on vacation on a beach! What’s really nice is these smart plugs sync up directly with digital assistants, making it even easier to learn how to use them.
These are the top gadgets that I’ve found (and use everyday) to be awesome and very useful in 2020 so far for tech enthusiasts. I’m planning to include additional products to this guide throughout the year! Stay tuned!
